Fairheads started the Guardian Roadshow programme more than 10 years ago when we identified the need to reach out to clients (guardians, caregivers and members) who didn’t have easy access to Fairheads via the communication channels available. Over the years, the Roadshow has provided an opportunity to do a lot more – we can explain everything clients need to know about beneficiary funds and trusts, we can meet with our clients face-to-face and engage directly with them and we can assist with queries. We encourage our 15 – 17 year old members to attend so that we can offer support to help them achieve their academic and career goals.
This video gives a glimpse of the Roadshow.
WHAT HAPPENS AT THE GUARDIAN ROADSHOW?
After clients have registered, a presentation follows. The presentation is done in the predominant language of the area, however, there are always English-speaking staff available where necessary. The presenter will cover the topics below and more:
- Why money was placed into a beneficiary fund and who the role-players are
- How the beneficiary fund works and what information/documents are needed from the guardian and member
- Procedures for requesting payments, updating personal details, change of guardianship, and more
- What happens to the money if a member passes away
- When a member turns 16 – what guardians and members need to know
- Preparing members for Age 18
- Procedure when the beneficiary fund account comes to an end – documents required, etc.
- Information for members on career guidance resources and academic support
At the end of the presentation, a brief Question and Answer session is held.
